Targeting 2020: Driving Change Toward a Sustainable Canadian Music Industry

Please join us on March 1st when Graham Henderson, President of Music Canada, who will soon be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, will reveal five opportunities to facilitate the growth and sustainability of the Canadian music industry.

The commercial music industry in Canada has long been a star factory, developing and nurturing talented artists who go on to represent Canada on stages around the world.  It employs tens of thousands of Canadians and injects millions of dollars into the economy.

In 2013 the sector is retooling to better meet the challenges and embrace the opportunities of the digital age.

What priorities should be deployed to accelerate the industry’s rebirth?  What adjustments are needed to existing programs and resources in order to achieve the best results?  What are some of the yet unexplored industrial strategies that will stimulate new investment and innovation?

Graham Henderson will discuss Music Canada’s new research findings that prioritize five areas of exploration:  music education, digital innovation, interconnected tax credits, music tourism and export development.
Graham Henderson promotes the interests of Canadian record companies and their partners, the artists.  Mr. Henderson is active in policy development and is a frequent speaker on intellectual property issues.

Currently he is the Copyright Rapporteur of the ICC Commission on Intellectual Property of the International Chamber of Commerce.  He also serves as Vice-Chair of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s Canadian Intellectual Property Council and Board Member of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce.
