This year’s event will include a vital panel discussion on HIV prevention, awareness, and the pressing need for more universal access to prevention drugs like PrEP across Canada. This conversation will explore how Canada can lead with compassion, policy innovation, and public health equity to better support those at risk. Canadian Club Toronto is proud to celebrate Pride Month on June 18. The evening will open with a special performance by Karamilk, followed by an engaging panel discussion featuring: Dr. Kevin Woodward (Executive and Medical Director at HQ & Associate Professor at McMaster University), Muluba Habanyama (CANFAR National Spokesperson), Councillor Chris Moise (Chair of the Toronto Board of Health) & Alex Filiatrault (VIIV Healthcare).

Dr. Kevin Woodward is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at McMaster University. During the course of his career, he has worked at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton in inpatient infectious diseases as well as clinical work in the areas of HIV and sexual health. He is involved in provincial and national projects for HIV prevention and PrEP.  He is the executive and medical director at HQ Health Hub in Toronto, Ontario.

Muluba Habanyama

CANFAR National Spokesperson

Muluba is a communications specialist, educator, consultant, and lifelong HIV advocate. Born with HIV, she grew up in a world that treated the virus as something to be ashamed of—something to hide. Today, she uses her unfinished story to challenge stigma, advance health equity, and champion the power of lived experience.

As CANFAR’s National Spokesperson, Muluba leads with empathy, authenticity, and vulnerability. She is deeply committed to ending the stigma surrounding HIV in Canada. Her advocacy spans classrooms, international media, research spaces, and more—amplifying voices too often left out of conversations about health, justice, and systemic change. She has proudly represented CANFAR across the country, connecting with communities and decision-makers to break down myths and build a more compassionate, informed future.

Councillor Chris Moise

Chair of the Toronto Board of Health

Chris Moise (he/him) was elected the City Councillor for Ward 13 – Toronto Centre on October 24, 2022. Prior to being elected to City Council, Chris served as a Toronto District School Board Trustee for six years standing up for and investing in our schools, working with local families and stakeholders, and ensuring that our children and our communities could fulfill their potential and achieve a brighter future. He also worked on the frontlines as a police officer in Waterloo, and as an addictions counsellor at St. Michael’s Hospital building deep roots in our communities, and providing care and assistance to people in need. He knows first-hand how to bring neighbourhoods, communities, and first responders closer together to improve our safety while fostering more equity, fairness, and inclusion.

As a small business owner in the St. Lawrence Neighbourhood for over 17 years, Chris understands the challenges of running a local business and knows firsthand their importance in enhancing and preserving vibrant local neighbourhoods. Chris is honoured to have been appointed as the small business advocate on the Economic and Community Development Committee and looks forward to being championing our recovery and rebuild efforts.
