As a five-time World and Olympic track champion, Donovan Bailey knows what it takes to achieve success: drive, resilience, heart, and the support of positive role models. As a businessman, Donovan has adopted that same winning formula to build his corporate career.

On September 19, Donovan will discuss his own experiences in striving for gold, both on the track and in the boardroom, and will speak about the role that mentors and role models have played in his life.

Whether you’re an athlete, or a Fortune 500 company, you’ve relied on mentors to help you succeed. That support is often lacking in the lives of Canadian children. As the 2005/06 celebrity spokesperson for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada, Donovan Bailey is committed to helping our children, tomorrow's leaders achieve gold in life. He'll talk about how public and private organizations can help, by serving as mentors and role models to our youth.

Donovan Bailey won the 100m World Championship in Goteborg, Sweden in 9.97 seconds. In 1996 at the Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta, in front of a worldwide TV audience of millions, Donovan won the 100m final with World and Olympic Record time of 9.84 seconds. Today, Donovan Bailey still holds the Olympic Record for the 100 metres, and the World Record for the 50 metres. He also proudly claims the titles of Canadian Champion, Pan American Games Champion, Goodwill Games Champion, Commonwealth Games Champion, World Champion, and Olympic Champion.

Now retired from Track & Field competition and running his own sports and investment management company, DBX Sports Management, Donovan also works as an inspirational speaker, motivator and Track & Field commentator for the BBC. He also serves as an Ambassador of Goodwill for the Canadian federal government. In addition, Donovan recently created the Donovan Bailey Foundation committed to the advancement and financial assistance of Canada's most talented amateur athletes.
