Colin Bohm

Executive Vice President, International Development and Corporate Strategy, Corus Entertainment Inc.

As Executive Vice President, International Development and Corporate Strategy at Corus Entertainment Inc., Colin Bohm is responsible for the company’s business development and strategic planning activities. In addition, Colin oversees the development of global strategic partnerships and manages the company’s mergers and acquisitions initiatives.

Colin began his career at Corus in 2002 as Director, Planning and Analysis, where he was responsible for the company’s financial analysis and business planning. Next, he was Vice President, International of Nelvana Enterprises, overseeing Nelvana and Kids Can Press. Most recently, Colin held the position of Executive Vice President, Head of Corus Kids, overseeing Canada’s leading children television brands YTV, Nickelodeon (Canada), Disney Channel (Canada), Cartoon Network (Canada), TELETOON and Treehouse, in addition to managing Nelvana, a globally recognized leader in the production and distribution of children’s animated content.

Colin holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Toronto with a focus in Finance and Strategy, and an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from McGill University.

 

Lisa Kimmel

President and CEO, Edelman Canada

As President and CEO of Edelman Canada, Lisa provides senior counsel to clients and is responsible for Canadian strategy development and execution. She has led the region’s strategic evolution to a best-in-class communications marketing firm – the biggest evolution in the firm’s history. In fact, Edelman Canada was recently awarded a Cannes Lions for its “In the Head of a Hacker” campaign on behalf of HP, which demonstrates the realization of the firm’s communications marketing aspiration.

Lisa’s fresh, collaborative and authentic approach has not only resulted in award-winning programs for clients, but has fostered a Canada-wide culture based on innovation, teamwork and integrity. Lisa is an Honours graduate of the University of Toronto and has been inducted into the Women’s Executive Network (WXN) Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada Hall of Fame. She is a member of Edelman’s Global Management Team, and was recently named chair of Edelman’s Global Women’s Executive Network (GWEN), championing programs and policies to help Edelman reach its global target of a 50/50 split in male/female leadership by 2020.

Lisa is also Vice Chair of the Ted Rogers School of Management (TRSM) Dean’s Council at Ryerson University, and sits on the Board of Directors for The Harbourfront Centre and Speed Skating Canada. Passionate about supporting future leaders, she is also actively involved with mentorship programs through the Women’s Executive Network, American Marketing Association and Women in Communications and Technology (WCT).

 

Janice Rubin

Partner, Rubin Thomlinson LLP

Janice Rubin is co-founder and co-managing partner of Rubin Thomlinson LLP. Janice is recognized as one of Canada’s leading employment lawyers and regularly appears on the Best Lawyers and Leading Practitioners lists in Canada.

While recognized for her depth of expertise in all areas of employment law, Janice is considered a leading authority in the area of workplace harassment and workplace investigation. Her firm conducts investigations across the country and in all sectors, including the media. In 2014-2015, Janice conducted a high profile workplace investigation for the CBC.

In 2015, Janice received the Employment Lawyer of the Year Award as part of the National HR Awards. She was also nominated for Canadian Lawyer Magazine’s Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers in 2015. Rubin Thomlinson was most recently recognized as one of the top employment law boutiques in Canada by Canadian Lawyer magazine.

 

Kenneth Fredeen

General Counsel and Secretary to the Board, Deloitte LLP Toronto

Mr. Fredeen has been General Counsel, Secretary to the Board, and a member of the Leadership Team with Deloitte LLP since 2000.

As General Counsel for Canada’s largest professional services firm with over 50 offices across Canada and over 9000 employees, Mr Fredeen is responsible for a team of 25 legal professionals in both Canada and Chile. In addition to his responsibilities as General Counsel and Secretary to the Board he has also held a number of portfolios with the firm.

Mr Fredeen is a passionate and tireless leader supporting diversity and inclusion. Working with other Canadian General Counsel, Mr. Fredeen was a founding member of Legal Leaders for Diversity and Inclusion and he now serves as president. The LLD is playing a critical role in the creation of a more inclusive legal profession in Canada. Mr. Fredeen is the past Chair of the Deloitte Inclusion Council and former Executive Sponsor or the Deloitte LGBTQ peoples’ network and now acts in that capacity for the Deloitte network for employees with disabilities.

As an active and engaged leader in the community, Mr. Fredeen was awarded the Queens Jubilee Medal in 2012 and Mr Fredeen and his team were awarded the General Counsel Award (Social Responsibility) in 2012. In 2014, Mr Fredeen was awarded the King Clancy Award for his work supporting Canadians who live with disabilities. In 2015 he received the SABA Diversity Award and in June, 2017 he was award the David C. Onley Award for his work related to creating a more inclusive Canada for people with disabilities, and in November of the same year, was recognized by Catalyst Canada for his leadership in diversity.

Mr Fredeen volunteers as a coach for Special Olympics track and basketball.
