Influence, Inspiration and the Presidency

In today’s fragmented media landscape, leaders have many ways to communicate. Join us on October 31 when former presidential speechwriter Sarada Peri gives us a behind-the-scenes look on how President Obama used oratory to lead — and how words can still unite in an era of division.

Sarada Peri is a writer and communications strategist who has helped top leaders and thinkers – from Fortune 50 CEOs to the President of the United States – inspire and persuade audiences.

She was Special Assistant to the President and Senior Speechwriter for President Barack Obama. Prior to joining the White House, she was a Principal at West Wing Writers, where she worked with corporate, political and nonprofit clients on speeches, op-eds, books, and message strategy.

A recovering policy wonk, Sarada worked on Capitol Hill covering education and health care policy for former Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu. She started her career as a high school English teacher in New Orleans through Teach for America. She holds a BA from Tufts University and a Master in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.
