On Wednesday, May 22nd, please join us at a special anniversary celebration of DiverseCity as the leading Canadian pollster Nik Nanos
shares the findings of the first public opinion survey on leadership diversity, followed by a panel discussion with DiverseCity Co-Chairs Ratna Omidvar
and John Tory
hosted by CBC Radio’s Matt Galloway
It’s been five years since the Greater Toronto CivicAction Alliance (CivicAction) and Maytree came together to shine the spotlight on leadership diversity. DiverseCity’s early research exposed a critical gap: our leaders – the decision-makers, influence shapers and role models – did not look like the rest of the city region. The first Counts report showed that in a place where close to half the population is made up of visible minorities, only 13% of those who had succeeded in rising to the top were diverse.
Since then, hundreds of organizations and thousands of leaders have come together to change the face of leadership. Collectively, DiverseCity’s efforts are paving the way to accelerate prosperity across the GTA. Diversity in leadership has been linked with powerful social and economic outcomes – undeniable opportunities for a metropolis defined by the diversity of its population.
Now it’s time to find out what residents think about this issue. Does the gap at the top matter to people on the street? What do they think are the benefits of a leadership that reflects the population? And what can we expect for the Toronto of tomorrow?
Please join the growing community of leaders and champions for the release of DiverseCity’s latest insights at this special anniversary celebration.
