The Future of Food in Canada

Please join us on Tuesday May 25th, when Galen G. Weston, Executive Chairman, Loblaw Companies Limited speaks at our podium.

Since his appointment in 2006, Mr. Weston has overseen a multi-year renewal of Loblaw that has included: a return to a focus on food; a restructuring of the organization to drive efficiency and a significant investment program in store, supply chain and information technology infrastructure.

Under Mr. Weston’s leadership, Loblaw has increased its commitment to corporate social responsibility, taking a leadership role in the grocery industry in such areas as the reduction of plastic bag use and commitment to seafood sustainability. In 2009, Corporate Knights, once again, recognized Loblaw among its 50 Best Corporate Citizens in Canada.

In his eleven years with the company, Mr. Weston has held increasingly senior executive positions within Loblaw. He is a Director of Wittington Investments, Limited and has served as a Director of George Weston Limited. Mr. Weston holds a B.A. from Harvard University and an M.B.A. from Columbia University.
