Director of Public Affairs, Carpenter’s District Council of Ontario
Nikki Holland is the Director of Public Affairs at the Carpenters District Council of Ontario Her main responsibilities include liaising between the 16 affiliate locals that represent our 24,000 plus members and government. She is the main voice for the Union publicly.
Prior to joining the Carpenters’ Union, Nikki was the Vice-President, Public Affairs at Invest Toronto, Toronto’s foreign direct investment marketing and sales corporation. In her role, Nikki continually strived to build relationships with businesses and stakeholders in order to ensure that Toronto remained the premiere business destination for companies to invest and locate.
Nikki has also served the Manager of Government Relations at the Insurance Bureau of Canada. In this role she acted as the primary executive working on behalf of Ontario’s property and casualty insurers to influence and assist the government in making regulatory changes beneficial to association members and Ontarians.
In addition to her private sector experience, Nikki also has significant government and political experience. She spent nearly ten years working in the offices of several Ontario government Cabinet Ministers and Members of Provincial Parliament, most notably as the Executive Lead to the Attorney General and as Chief of Staff to the Minister of Aboriginal Affairs. She has led training sessions and speaks publicly about best practices for communicating with government and how to run election campaigns. She is a seasoned campaign manager and sought-after advisor.
