Second Annual Women in Public Life Luncheon

Please join the Canadian Club of Toronto and Equal Voice on Tuesday, June 19, as we recognize Her Worship, Mayor Hazel McCallion and present her with the EVE Award, for her outstanding success as one of Canada’s longest serving Mayors and for her contribution to women in public life over the last 30 years.

Re-elected Mayor of Mississauga 11 times, most recently in November 2006, when she captured 91% of the votes, Hazel McCallion is affectionately called “Hurricane Hazel” by supporters as well as the media at large for her vibrant, outspoken, no-nonsense style of politics. Since moving to Streetsville more than 40 years ago, Mayor McCallion has overseen the growth of Mississauga from a small collection of towns and villages to Canada’s sixth largest city. Mississauga is one of the few cities in Canada that is debt free and has not had to borrow money since Mayor McCallion took office in 1978.

In 2005, Mayor McCallion ranked 2nd in the international World Mayor poll behind only Dora Bakoyannis of Athens. Please join us for a terrific event, celebrating women and recognizing women who make it their passion to serve their communities at all levels.

Note: $1500 tables for this event, include tickets to the pre-lunch reception with Her Honour, MPs and MPPs and Head Table guests.
