The Canadian and Empire Clubs are pleased to host this farewell address from Governor General Clarkson, as she completes her term as Governor General.

In this address, Governor General Clarkson will discuss the changes she has witnessed during the last half of "Canada's Century" and the beginning of the new one.

As a woman, an immigrant, a journalist and a cultural advocate, the Governor General has had a distinct perspective on the Canadian project. Her mandate as Governor General has only clarified the view, taking her to Canadians in every corner of the land and allowing her to share their struggles and their victories, great and small. It has also given her the chance to welcome the world to Canada, and to represent our beloved country in the global community.
